Annotation

Demographic change and increasing life expectancy have led to a significant increase in the number of patients with neurological disorders. The care of these patients involves specialists from a wide range of disciplines. Above all, prevention and rehabilitation measures such as exercise therapy will play an increasingly relevant role in the effective treatment of patients in the future. The development and scientific research of movement therapy treatment methods is essential for the scientific training of the required therapeutic personnel. You can study at the MSH on a part-time basis while you work. In the part-time studies, the courses take place in three block weeks and one exam week during the semester. As a rule, you continue your professional activity during the degree at 50 percent. The Master's degree course in Neurorehabilitation at the Department of Performance, Neuroscience, Therapy and Health aims to deal more extensively with movement therapy in the neurosciences. The Master's degree course is future-oriented and interdisciplinary and combines knowledge from the fields of physiotherapy, sports science and medicine as well as tangential interdisciplinary subjects. The acquisition of interdisciplinary competencies is a prerequisite for meeting the requirements for independently performed therapeutic measures in neurodegenerative, neurovascular and chronic-inflammatory disease patterns. The Master's degree course offers you the necessary expertise to research the evidence of movement therapy in the context of neurorehabilitation in order to be able to establish activating therapies in the health care system in the long term in the future. In your master's degree course, you will develop an understanding of neural mechanisms that control human movement. You will become familiar with clinical and instrumental procedures for movement analysis and be able to apply them practically. Furthermore, you know institutional and legal aspects of movement therapy in the overall context of health and have motivational competences for the personal cooperation with patients.
