Annotation
The Diploma degree course in Stage and Costume Design at Dresden University of Fine Arts combines training as a stage and costume designer in one degree course. Literary and musical templates and individually chosen topics are worked on conceptually and creatively. The focus is on the critical questioning of the material. A discursive opening up towards social issues plays a central role in this. It is about developing your own aesthetic point of view and defending it. Studying in Dresden is characterised by its proximity to theatre practice. It offers the opportunity to work through design and implementation within projects. An essential component of the course is the transformation of a theme into a scenic spatial and figure concept. One of the most important tools is work on a model. In addition, ideas are developed and presented in the form of drawings, storyboards, plans, photographs, videos and films. The course is a time of artistic experimentation, research and awareness of the spectrum of historical and contemporary modes of communication and narrative forms.
