Annotation
Students who have the aim of attaining the teaching qualification for vocational schools complete their studies in a tiered course structure. Firstly, the Bachelor's degree course in Vocational Training at the Universität Osnabrück must be completed or proof provided of an equivalent degree obtained at another university in the appropriate subject, or in a closely related subject with a corresponding teacher-training specialisation and one of the vocational specialisations in Health Sciences, Cosmetology or Nursing, Electrical Engineering, Metals Technology or Ecotrophology. The Master's degree course "Teaching Qualification (vocational school-level)" in Health Sciences, Cosmetology or Nursing, as well as – in cooperation with the Hochschule Osnabrück foundation – in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Metals Technology or Ecotrophology, is oriented towards the professional field of schools and builds onto this course. For the Master's course, an application and proof of practical professional experience is required in any case: For the specialisations in Health Sciences, Cosmetology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Metals Technology and Home Economics 52 weeks, whereby 26 weeks can be completed by the end of the Master's degree course\; in Nursing, as a rule, completed relevant professional training. A Master's degree is the prerequisite for admission to postgraduate civil service. In the Teaching Qualification degree course, Islamic Religion is studied in combination with the second subject chosen in the Bachelor's course; for this there are two possible alternatives. As part of the Master's supplementary course "Complementary Subject for the Teaching Qualification for Vocational Schools", a further teaching subject can be studied. Therefore, in addition to Islamic Religion, the following can fundamentally be studied as an additional teaching subject: Biology (only with the areas of Health Sciences, Cosmetology or Nursing), German, English, Protestant Religion, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Sport. If the other chosen subject is English, during registration for the degree examination, proof of a three-month course-relevant stay abroad in a country in which English is the official language must be provided. In addition to the subject area and the teaching subject, the study of Vocational and Economics Education (BWP) is mandatory; within this, skills in the field of vocational education are taught. The didactics of vocational teaching and learning is also a component. Preparatory and follow-up placements at vocational schools must be completed within the scope of the special in-school practical studies and in subject-related internships. The Master's thesis can be written in the professional subject area, in the teaching subject or in vocational and economics education.
