Graduates with proof of completion of a relevant Bachelor's degree programme in the field of Social Sciences/Sociology or Proof of a comparable German or foreign professionally qualifying university degree with a total grade of at least 3.0. In addition, the degree must include socio-scientific or sociological components amounting to at least 90 credit points (CP), of which at least 15 credit points (CP) must be in the field of empirical social research methods.

Annotation

General information The Master’s degree course in "Sociology: Societal Orders in Transition" is a research-oriented degree course that leads you to a fully-fledged academic qualification in the subject of Sociology and provides access to a doctorate for the stepped study pathway. The course of studied consists of - sound qualification in the reception and analysis of sociological theory; especially theories of social order and disorder, knowledge of order and practices of order, - knowledge of current scientific discussions, problems and research areas of international sociology, the imparting of application-oriented and methodological specialist knowledge, in particular methodology, social structure analysis, social change, - a two-semester project course with current research references in the elective areas of "Geographical and Temporal Comparison of Established Orders", "Order as a Process: Interaction and Relationship Dynamics" or "Threatened Orders", - the skill to independently design, plan and implement research projects, in particular the research-oriented preparation and qualification for planning a doctorate. Research focuses Special sociological focuses - such as established orders, order as a process and/or threatened orders - offer you the opportunity to get to know new research perspectives on phenomena of social and societal change and to deepen your knowledge.
