Annotation
The application-oriented Master's degree programme (joint degree) "International Literatures and Book Markets", which is based at the Universities of Marburg and Frankfurt, combines the academic study of contemporary Romance-language literatures with practical events in which, among other things, students develop their own literary projects and implement them in urban areas. It is particularly characterised by its cooperation with the Frankfurt Book Fair and its national and international partners. In terms of organisation, it is geared towards the annual Book Fair and its changing country focuses and also includes permanent international fields of work of the Book Fair and its national and international partners relevant to the degree programme. The degree programme aims to provide students with an academically qualified Master's degree programme that enables them to reflect methodically on issues at the interface of literary production, reception and marketing in an international context and primarily with a view to contemporary literature. It provides systematic, theoretical and historical perspectives on transnational literary concepts and includes exemplary analyses of current phenomena and developments in the literary field. Successful completion of the degree programme qualifies students for a wide range of careers, in particular in the following areas: International book fairs, publishers, literary agencies, literary houses and other literary forums, cultural journalism, research and teaching in the field of international literature and cultural studies.
