Annotation
The study of Greek as a subject in the degree programme Teaching Qualification for Grammar Schools is oriented towards the requirements of the practice of teaching Greek at grammar schools. The programme will impart the necessary linguistic, subject-specific and didactic basics necessary for the practice of the teaching profession at grammar schools and allow for first experiences in school teaching practice under academic guidance. University education in Greek is the basic science for European self-understanding; the subject matter is texts from Greek antiquity and late antiquity, which have shaped European intellectual history in a special way. Students are to be qualified on the basis of the acquired knowledge and competences for academic work and socially responsible practice of the teaching profession. Research focuses The main study objectives in Greek include: Acquisition or improvement of language competence (confident knowledge of the language, theoretical and historical aspects of the Greek language), methodical handling of literature (basic concepts of literary studies, history of Greek literature and its reception, text transmission and criticism, scientific interpretation) and the necessary knowledge of ancient history or cultural studies (philosophy, political history, religion, art, law, society, etc.) as well as the ability to didactically convey subject content.
