Annotation

General information: The Master’s degree course in 'Art History. Research, theory, practice' promotes knowledge and skills for research, for the scientifically sound support of measures for the preservation and mediation of the wealth of cultural traditions. Based on broad subject-specific knowledge, you will learn to independently apply scientific methods and findings to complex objects and the framework conditions of the arts. The degree course includes a high proportion of courses on originals and thus strengthens your knowledge of monuments (art techniques, stylistic history, past and present forms of presentation). In addition to the diversity of the individual science, you will be instructed to solve problems across disciplines. Periods: • Late Antiquity • Middle Ages • Early Modern Age • Modern Era and the Present Research focuses: The "Systematics" module promotes scientific initiative and early participation in research. In the "case studies", topics from the entire spectrum of art history are dealt with as examples. The "field studies" include one major excursion and one project seminar. Parts of the third and fourth semesters are reserved for the final thesis and accompanying colloquia. Furthermore, the degree programme offers you the freedom to choose modules from other degree programmes in order to set your own individual focus.
