In addition, you will acquire and strengthen your language skills. With these skills, you can work academically in the field of Greek Studies, familiarise yourself with philological issues and analyse these critically and systematically. In particular, the course will train your language skills (insight into the systematics of the Greek language or of inflectional languages in general, translation skills), your historical competence (ability to place texts in a historical and literary context), as well as your cultural competence (ability to name and convey reception references to ancient texts and concepts). In Marburg, the research focus of Classical Philology is on the central texts of antiquity, on which science, literature and philosophy are based in various cultural traditions. In addition to the historical contextualization of these texts, you will analyse the influence of these texts in modern cultures.
