Annotation
Computer science is aimed at students who are interested in computer science , i.e. the science of the theory, practice and technology of computers and their possible applications. In this degree programme, students acquire in-depth specialist knowledge in the core areas of computer science. This includes: Databases, Programming, Mathematics, Architecture of Computers and Computer Networks and System Programming. Current socially relevant computer science topics offered in the degree programme include, for example, multimedia, bioinformatics, security and human-machine interfaces. Students also study algorithms and data structures, theoretical and practical computer science and the application of these areas in other specialised fields, such as medicine or electrical engineering. To this end, they learn the basics of an area outside of Computer Science in their minor subject. The Faculty of Computer Science in Magdeburg offers an above-average proportion of practical and application-oriented topics compared to other faculties in Germany. The degree course is fundamentally orientated and includes a minor subject and a professional internship.
