Annotation

Since 2004 the Global Labour University (GLU) network has offered this Master's programme on sustainable development, social justice, international labour standards, trade unions, economic policies and global institutions. This unique global programme is jointly developed by universities and workers organisations from around the world. It aims at candidates with experience in labour and social movements willing to assist organisations in these fields in engaging more effectively in social dialogue, public debate, and policy implementation. Participants will analyse and discuss the challenges of globalisation from a labour and trade union perspective in a multidisciplinary context. The programme offers a multicultural and multiregional environment with students and lecturers from developing, transition and industrialised countries. The programme is a one year joint degree programme of the University of Kassel and the Berlin School of Economics. Participants also have the possibility to pursue a double degree with the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Additionally there is the possibility of doing an exchange semesters at the GLU programme in Brazil or India. Women are strongly encouraged to participate. The Global Labour University is a unique programme and supported by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Hans-Boeckler-Stiftung (HBS), the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and various Global Union Federations. The programme maintains and facilitates close contact and exchange with various trade union organisations and experts, which exceeds the regular academic curriculum of a master study programme. The participation in the programme requires an own contribution of EUR 1,500.
