If we dress, cook or heat the apartment: Chemical reactions take place everywhere and new compounds are formed. Chemistry is the science of substances, their properties and their transformations. At the University of Kassel, you can study chemistry with the following profiles: Teaching Qualification at Secondary and Comprehensive Schools as well as Grammar Schools. It can also be taken as a second subject in vocational education degree course. Chemistry is all around us and important for all: Modern materials, innovative medicine or sustainable environmental protection are unthinkable without the contribution of chemistry. There are many attractive occupations in the chemical industry. And good chemistry lessons have the potential not only to inspire students for the subject, but also to arouse lasting interest in chemistry. Because chemistry is an exciting teaching subject: Experiments offer unique opportunities for classroom design and are often simply impressive. Students studying Chemistry in the teaching profession learn experimental skills with a great deal of practical relevance, acquire basic knowledge and have good employment opportunities in the school service. The degree course at the University of Kassel prepares students for their work as teachers in the field of chemistry. Students learn to design specific placement, learning and educational processes. The education and training takes place at the latest technical level, not least using virtual reality technology. The teaching qualification is a focal point at the University of Kassel and has been honoured twice in the Teacher Training Quality Offensive. In Kassel you can study in the proven structure of the state examination. The supervision is outstanding, the structures are downright familiar: Particularly in the subject of chemistry, value is attached to personal support. Large, anonymous groups are not found here, but individual support and guidance.
