The study of medicine is regulated and standardised nationwide by Section 1 of the Licensing Regulations for Physicians (ÄAppO). The objective of medical training is to develop a theoretically and practically trained doctor, capable of independent medical practice, further education and continuous training. The training should convey fundamental knowledge, skills and competences in all subjects required for delivering comprehensive healthcare to the public.
