Annotation

The subject History provides you with orientation knowledge and in-depth competences in the field of historical sciences and historical culture. It takes account of the fact that historical knowledge and historical orientation are constantly gaining in importance as a result of accelerated social change. The subject combines a broad-based basic historical education with application-oriented skills. It therefore also teaches practical skills in dealing with and applying historical knowledge. The Bachelor's degree in the minor subject imparts the fundamentals of historical studies and at the same time an application-oriented basic knowledge and thus offers a useful supplement to courses of study in the fields of literature, culture, politics and social sciences in particular. What's special about us: Two additional variants distinguish the subject History. One is the opportunity to combine the first major in history with the second major in journalism history. Within the framework of this subject, special emphasis is placed on the teaching of media science competencies and journalistic skills. On the other hand, the major offers the opportunity to focus on Eastern European History. History can be studied in the degree course History and Cultural Studies (GuK) at the Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen as 1st semester. Major subject: 80 CP + Thesis, second Major subject: 70 CP, 1. Minor subject: 40 CP or as second Minor subject: 30 credit points.
