Annotation

The International joint degree programme (120 ECTS credits) is offered by the Department of Biology and Chemistry of Justus Liebig University Giessen in cooperation with the School of Biology and Environmental Science of University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. Students start their studies at UCD in the first semester in September. The winter semester is followed by at least six weeks of work placement in international organisations. The degree course will be continued in the following summer semester at the University of Giessen. The third semester, which is dedicated to your own research work (Master's thesis), can be completed in Giessen or Dublin.

Admission requirements

The prerequisite is a completed degree course with a grade point average of at least 2.48 UCD grade points (for conversion into JLU grade points, see JLU Special Study Regulations, Section 26) in one of the degree courses BSc in Biology, BSc in Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Other degree courses may be accepted on application provided previous academic studies are characterised by a broad natural science profile, with appropriate fundamental components in the areas Biology, Mathematics/Statistics and a recognisable focus on Ecology or subjects related to Ecology. Since the entire degree course is taught in English, proficiency in English must be proven (600 points [in writing] or 100 points online in TOEFL or 6.5 points in IELTS), unless the first degree was obtained in English.
