Computer science and digitalisation play an increasingly important social and economic role in many areas. The interaction between companies and universities plays a particularly important role here: Universities must maintain contact with companies in order to provide market-oriented training, especially in fields such as computer science, where knowledge is growing rapidly, and not just at the moment. At the same time, students must acquire a basic scientific qualification, which has been successfully established in the department for many years through the Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science. This dual Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science is a response to the growing interest of students in recent years in achieving an even stronger and more intensive practical focus in their studies, without neglecting the basic scientific training. The primary objective of the Bachelor's degree programme "Computer Science (dual)" is largely identical to that of the regular Bachelor's degree programme in terms of academic qualification, which in the dual programme is, however, particularly characterised by the combination of theoretical training and practical experience. This is achieved in particular through specially designed transfer modules, which are completed both at the university and at the practice partner. These modules are designed to enable and promote the direct transfer and application of the theoretical knowledge learnt in real work situations. In each subject area, both the basics and specialised methods of computer science are taught for application at an academic level. Graduates have acquired time-invariant background knowledge after completing their studies, which enables them to acquire further or currently required specific knowledge. A further aim is to prepare students seeking further qualifications for continuing their education with a Master's degree programme in Computer Science.
