Target group

Film-makers from audiovisual creative fields (e.g. directing, production, camera, screenplay, production design or editing) with a strong team spirit, interest in innovative co-creative working methods as well as socially relevant topics, research and artistic research and at least one year of relevant professional experience. Applicants must have a BA or an equivalent or higher academic degree. In justified exceptional cases, applicants with exceptional artistic talent who lack one or more of these formal requirements may apply to participate in this degree course as further education participants.

Annotation

The Master's degree course in FILM is organised as part of a cooperation agreement with TH Köln (Cologne University of Applied Sciences) at the ifs (International Film School Cologne). The degree course commences every other year in the winter semester. Next commencement in the winter semester 2025/2026. Admission requirements

Admission to the Master's degree requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) of at least 180 ECTS credit points or a higher degree (e.g. a German Magister or Diploma degree) from a recognised university. Applicants must have at least one year of professional experience in the film or media sector. Good proficiency in German and good proficiency in English are required: Applicants who have not obtained their higher education entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution must provide proof of good German language skills at DSH-1 level ('German language test for admission to higher education for foreign study applicants (DSH)') The DSH-1 test may alternatively be replaced by equivalent certificates or supporting documents, such as e.g. level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or TestDaf level TDN 3.
