Business Informatics has emerged from Business Administration (BWL) and Computer Science as an independent discipline. It deals with current practical and scientific issues in computer-aided information processing in business. Focus is placed on the management of operationally relevant information. This particularly includes the planning, development, introduction and operation of operational application systems, but also the use of information technology for innovative business models (e.g. e-business, mobility services).
