The aim of the degree course is to train employees competent in social welfare studies for church and diaconate, in particular Rummelsberg deacons. Diaconic Studies focus on the church and social welfare work by integrating theology with its sub-disciplines and by referring to the human, nursing, social and economic sciences. In this context, the degree course Diaconic Studies teaches theological and subject-specific competences. It promotes the ability to relate them to each other and apply them in different areas of the practice of the church and social welfare work in an academically reflective way. It supports personality development and professional action. It serves the communication of the Gospel in a culturally and religiously diverse society. This degree course opens up career perspectives in different directions: - It enables the Christian profiled social science and theological work in numerous institutions of the social welfare work. - It also makes it possible to carry out community pedagogical and religious work on different church levels with different groups of people.
