With around 450 million speakers, Spanish is one of the world languages and is the Romance language with the most speakers. In the course of the Spanish Expansion, Spanish spread from the 15th Century onwards around the world and is the official language in 21 countries in Europe, America and Africa.The content of the Teacher Training course in Spanish Studies is therefore the Spanish language in its historical development and as modern language system, the literature of the Spanish-speaking world and, as part of Cultural Studies, the cultural conditions in Hispanic countries in their respective historical and social contexts. The didactic processing and teaching of this content is a further specialisation.

Annotation

The University Mainz offers the Master of Education exclusively for Teaching Qualification (Grammar Schools). If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be demonstrated: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).

1. Proof of a teaching-related Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Education) in a relevant subject. 2. A requirement for the Master of Education course is that students have sufficient active and passive command of English to enable them to read English specialist literature and to participate in lectures conducted in English. 3. Applicants must still have the examination entitlement for the subject of Spanish in the Master of Education course.
