The subject 'Philosophy' can be selected as a core or a minor in the two-subject Bachelor of Arts course (core subject / minor subject). The teaching qualification Philosophy can only be studied in combination with the subject French/Lettres modernes in the German-French degree course. Prospective students can familiarise themselves with the subject during a taster day (www.studium.uni-mainz.de/schnuppertage).

Admission requirements
Evidence of French language proficiency obtained through five years of school education completed with a grade of at least “sufficient” or 5 points, or through a certificate of advanced French language proficiency at the level of the Common European Framework of Reference B2, which can be demonstrated through a language test or through the Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française (DELF B2). Evidence of French language proficiency can also be provided by submitting a higher education entrance qualification completed at a French-speaking school or an Abi-Bac. Students are required to have a sufficient active and passive proficiency in another foreign language. Please note that sufficient proficiency in Ancient Greek or Latin is required to select a historical specialisation in the MA Philosophy degree course.
