Target group
The aim of the consecutive M. Sc. Degree course is to train researching microbiologists who have solid expertise and competences in the areas of molecular microbiology, microbial physiology and biotechnology as well as microbial ecology. This is an international degree course in which, in addition to professional qualifications, one of the training objectives is the acquisition of a high level of intercultural competence. The field of Microbiology is interdisciplinary in nature and the degree course is set up accordingly. This enables students to actively engage in a wide range of microbiological fields of work. The international degree course in Microbiology is designed in such a way that graduates meet the requirements of the international labour market in basic research and in all areas of applied microbiology.

The international Master's degree programme "Microbiology" will be offered for the first time in the winter semester 2022/23. Applications are made via the partner university Université de Bourgogne in Dijon (France). Please note the applicable (possibly earlier) application deadlines.

Admission requirements
Proof of a Bachelor's degree in the field of biology or of a degree from a German or international university that does not differ significantly from this. If proof of having obtained a Bachelor's degree has not been provided by the application deadline, an application must be submitted on the basis of a certificate of completed exams and academic achievements amounting to at least 120 credit points, which must be issued by the relevant department of the previous university, must be possible. A total sum of credit points must be shown. Proof of required language skills in English at least at level B2. No knowledge of German or French is required for the international Master's degree programme "Microbiology". Further information can be found on the admission website.
