The degree course in German Studies can only be studied in combination with the subject French/Lettres modernes in the German-French degree course (see https://www.studium.uni-mainz.de/internationale-studienprogramme/). Prospective students can familiarise themselves with the subject during a taster day (www.studium.uni-mainz.de/schnuppertage).

Admission requirements
A requirement for admission is the proof of knowledge of French with at least five years of completed school education and a minimum grade of 'Sufficient' or 5 points, or a certificate demonstrating advanced knowledge of French equivalent to B2 level within the Common European Framework of Reference, proven by a language test or the Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française (DELF B2). Proof of knowledge of French can be provided through submission of a higher education entrance qualification completed at a French-speaking school or an Abi-Bac (simultaneous acquisition of the general higher education entrance qualification certificate [Abitur] and French baccalauréat [bac]) (for additional requirements, see examination regulations at www.uni-mainz.de/studlehr/ordnungen). German Language and Literature/Allemand can only be studied in combination with the subject of French/Lettres modernes in the German-French degree course.
