Target group

The aim of the master's programme 'Applied Bioinformatics' is to prepare bachelor's graduates in the field of food science to apply bioinformatical methods in research and industry. To achieve this, students gain expertise in understanding the latest research in bioinformatics and applying this to real-world problems.

Annotation

If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be proven: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education institution, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).

Admission requirements

1. Evidence of a Bachelor's degree in Biology or an equivalent degree at a university in Germany or abroad as well as basic programming skills. If this cannot be demonstrated when the study programme commences, the requirement can be fulfilled by successfully completing the lecture "Introduction to Programming" of the Bachelor's degree course in "Computer Science" before the end of the first academic year. 2. Students are required to have sufficient English language proficiency. 3. Applicants who obtained neither their higher education entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution nor a degree in a course conducted in German are required to provide evidence of German proficiency at the level of the “German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education for Foreign Students” (DSH).
