The consecutive and research-oriented Master's degree in Political Science is offered by the Institute of Political Science at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. In it, students acquire in-depth scientific knowledge of the full breadth of political science. The Institute of Political Science is one of the largest in the Federal Republic and is therefore able to offer an extensive range of courses. In the Frankfurt tradition of the internationally renowned Faculty of Social Sciences, the M.A. in Political Science equips students to work independently according to scientific and academic principles and to apply scientific methods and findings, as well as to reflect critically on social relationships and contexts. In detail, the M.A. in Political Science permits a deeper insight into the paradigmatic, theoretical and methodological principles of the subject and into representative issues in political theory, comparative political science and international relations. Students also have the opportunity in a research placement (project study) and a compulsory placement in a related professional field to gain and systematically reflect on experience for later employment. On successfully completing the M.A. in Political Science, graduates will have acquired knowledge and skills enabling them to later work in various fields of politics, society, business and culture for which sound academic training and a specialisation in political and social sciences are required. The Master's degree course also prepares students for a subsequent doctoral degree
