The Master’s is based on the Bachelor’s degree course and consists of the three core subjects of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry and one of the following compulsory elective subjects: analytical chemistry, biochemistry, materials science, synthetic chemistry, medical chemistry or theoretical chemistry. The combination of the three core subjects of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry with the optimal elective options in the compulsory elective subjects will open up excellent career prospects for Tübingen graduates. In chemistry, basic competencies are taught in various chemical and related disciplines. The course provides students with independent research in chemistry and forms the basis for a doctorate in chemistry. • Special options within the scope of the course • Close cooperation with the chemical industry in all areas of chemistry • Modern chemical and physical-chemical laboratories for research and teaching • Well-equipped departmental and institute libraries • Several computer rooms for students with access to specific software • Large-scale equipment centre for analytics (nuclear resonance spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, surface analysis) • Workshops and glass blowing for apparatus engineering The first chemical laboratory at the University of Tübingen was established in 1753 in the castle kitchen at Hohentübingen Castle. Numerous famous chemists have researched and taught at the University of Tübingen, including several Nobel laureates. Since 2009, the chemical institutes at the Morgenstelle have been housed in one of the most modern chemistry buildings in Europe.
