Annotation
The Faculty I is home to a summarising Diploma degree course in “Fine Arts”. The course was deliberately not subdivided into several degree courses. The structure meets the needs of a contemporary, open platform for students. The course is designed as a forum for discussion with artistic and scientific teachers, artists and fellow students. Artistic work is understood as a cognitive process. The focus is on the individuality of the student. In addition to the artistic work in the studio, students can acquire additional skills for artistic development in the graphic workshops (lithography, screen printing, etching/woodcutting, typography/book design, analogue and digital photography, manual binding, colour technology, painting technology, digital media, video technology) as well as the sculpture workshops (moulding, bronze foundry, woodworking, metal casting, metal processing, plastics processing, ceramics). In addition, participation in lectures in the fields of art history and philosophy/aesthetics is a requirement; participation in lectures in the field of anatomy and architecture is optional. There is also a variable programme of guest lectures and workshops in the various teaching areas and classes.
