Annotation
By studying to become a costume designer, our students are enabled to analyse and independently implement costume designs for dance, music and spoken theatre as well as for film and TV productions in their dramaturgical context. The special feature of this degree course, which is unique in the EU, is that an artistic exchange takes place within flowing processes with students of the fields of Make-up, Theatre Sculpture, Scenic Painting and Costume and Stage Design. A Diploma degree as a “Costume Designer” as well as the journeyman's certificate as a women's or men's tailor are required for registration in the register of crafts of the German Chamber of Crafts. This registration entitles the graduate to practise independently and to train apprentices. Upon completion of the course, graduates are artistically and technically qualified to work in a leading position in costume production in theatre, film, TV, trade fairs or, if they are inclined and have the appropriate aptitude, as freelance designers or costume designers.
