Admission requirements
General higher education entrance qualification and artistic aptitude determined by means of admissions procedures (according to section 36 (2) of the Art Higher Education Act NRW). If the candidate does not have a higher education entrance qualification, admission to the course may be granted (in accordance with section 36 (3) of the Art Higher Education Act NRW) if outstanding artistic talent is demonstrated. Duration of studies: 3 years (6 semesters) full-time studies 5 years (10 semesters) part-time studies With appropriate prior training, the duration of studies can be shortened if externally performed work is recognised in a placement examination. Applicants are invited to an entrance examination, in which they must submit a convincing portfolio with 20 – 30 pieces of their own work. The portfolio can consist of a wide variety of work samples: paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, digital work, performance work, photographic work as well as sound and video work can be submitted.
