Annotation

In many areas of social and educational work, professionals encounter people who have experienced or survived traumatic events and are suffering from the consequences of trauma. Extreme experiences can lead to severe stress and extreme behaviours. Effective psychosocial support for those affected and the adequate handling of the associated challenges require specific skills – all the more so when it comes to transcultural settings. The Master's degree programme in Transcultural Trauma Education imparts knowledge and insights from psychology, pedagogy and social work. The students - develop a multi-perspective understanding of traumatisation and its consequences in the context of migration and flight, - are enabled to develop trauma-sensitive support and protection concepts, - can provide relief to children, adolescents and adults through culturally sensitive and resource-orientated stabilising interventions, - are able to identify and address their own stressors and to further develop their professional attitude through supervision and self-reflection.
