In the teaching profession at primary schools the following 3 subjects are obligatory: - Learning Area I: Foundation course in Language - Learning area II: Mathematical education - 'Educational Science' or 'Educational Science with Integrated Support Education' Another additional subject is chosen. Admission requirements
1) Completion of a Bachelor's degree course with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters. The Bachelor's degree must be completed at a university or in the teaching subjects of Art, Music and Sports including Educational Sciences at colleges of art and music or at the German Sport University Cologne. Exceptions are possible for the Master's degree course in Teaching for Vocational Schools with two related vocational subject areas. 2) An undergraduate course in the fields of the subject combination which is composed of sufficient specialist components and subject-related didactic components, as well as the subject of German for Students with an Immigration Background. In the Teaching Qualification for Vocational Colleges the completion of at least 26 weeks of relevant professional experience is required. In the Teaching Qualification for Vocational Colleges with two related vocational specialisations, exceptions are possible for applicants with no subject-related didactic study content.
