The course is aimed at graduates with a first professional degree in Degree courses in the fields of History, Political Science, Slavic Studies, Sociology or one that is equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in the amount of 180 credits and subject-related study at a university or higher education institution in Germany or abroad.

Admission requirements

A subject related requirement is proof of academic achievements in the field of history, political science, Slavic studies or sociology amounting to at least 60 credit points. For the specialisation area 'Sociology', proof of at least 20 credit points in the methods of empirical social research is required. Furthermore, command of English on level B1 as well as command of Russian, Serbian/Croatian or Bulgarian for the specialisation 'Slavonic Studies' must be proven. The latter can also be taken during the degree course until the beginning of the 3rd semester. The acquisition of Polish language skills is an integral part of the Master's degree. International applicants are required to provide proof of command of German at the level of a DSH test (stage 2), a TestDaF (TDN 4) or a recognised equivalent.
