Target group

School Research and School Development, and what it means at the University of Tübingen: responsible school design, research-based reflection on teaching, developing skills for innovation. What are the objectives and characteristics of this course? The Master’s in School Research and School Development has been designed with two objectives in mind: On the one hand, the aim is to provide students with knowledge and skills for their professional activities and to contribute to their professionalisation. On the other hand, it is an important goal to stimulate innovation in schools and to create the foundations for sound reforms. The course is a response to increased social demands on the education system and its stakeholders, as well as to the assigned and presumed self-responsibility of schools. However, the course also attempts to answer the question of how to deal competently with the growing heterogeneity of the pupils. The course title School Research and School Development reveals the dual orientation of the course of study in a further way: research and development are combined and refer to each other. The aim of research and development activities is to achieve high-quality schools and teaching. The programme benefits from the possibilities of a differentiated educational science institute, as exists in Tübingen: joint seminars with students of Social Education/Social Work, an exchange programme with Lehigh University (USA) as well as lectures from all departments are available to you.
