Target group

The Slavic Studies Master's degree course teaches intensive skills and abilities in the field of Slavic languages, literature and cultures. As a single-subject programme, it offers either Russian or Polish as the main language of study. A second Slavic language is also studied in which students should gain a solid passive command (this can be either the other main language of study, Czech or Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian). Students should be capable of independent academic studies on topics in the selected field of Slavic studies and suitably classify individual phenomena. The Master's programme aims to give students an active command of the main language on the C1 level of the European Framework of Reference.

Annotation

If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be demonstrated: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).

A Bachelor's degree with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters from a university in Germany or abroad with a course component in Slavonic Studies or Polish Studies worth at least 60 credit points (CP) or an equivalent degree with an equivalent scope of pass/fail courses and graded courses. Russian is studied as the specialisation language. Polish, Czech or Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian can be chosen as the second language. A sufficient proficiency in English is required International applicants from non-German-speaking countries must provide evidence of proficiency in German at the level of the “German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education for Foreign Students” (DSH).
