Target group

• Teacher for blind and visually impaired pupils (in stationary and mobile systems such as special schools, educational centres, supra-regional special centres, mobile services, etc., Teaching Qualification for Special Schools – specialisation Vision), • other professional fields related to education for the blind and visually impaired (e.g. in the fields of early support/assistance, vocational training, adult education, senior citizen work/education), • management roles in charities, social welfare organisations, foundations and self-help organisations • occupational fields with a focus on special educational needs in the social and service sector.

Annotation

The course comprises 60 ECTS. This corresponds to about 1,800 hours of attendance courses and self-study. Once a month, there are seminars, lectures and academic tutorials at weekends. The course also includes a total of two practical weeks. What topics are covered? - National and international concepts and theories on education for the blind and visually impaired in the context of general education for the disabled - Basic knowledge and basic practical skills in the areas: Orientation and mobility, communication, everyday practical skills, media design - Basics from the field of ophthalmology, physiological optics, barrier-free design of the (spatial) environment and from the field of optical, electronic and non-electronic aids - Didactic and methodological interventions based on the knowledge of physiological vision and the diagnosis of functional vision - Cognitive Psychology and Theories of Movement - Consulting models in cooperation with organisations and clients - General special needs education (disabilities) and sociology of disability - Socio-educational diagnostics, test procedures and behavioural observation
