Target group
Building on a first professionally qualifying B.A. degree (American Studies), the consecutive Master's course in American Studies leads to a further professionally qualifying degree. The Master's course provides in-depth academic specialist knowledge in American Studies, British Studies and Anglophone Languages and the skills to develop scientific principles autonomously and apply scientific methods and findings. It offers career prospects in the following areas: schools, universities, adult education, vocational training, media, publishing, libraries, museums, press and public relations, advertising, information and communication technology, editorial offices
Annotation
If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be proven: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education institution, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).
Admission requirements
Evidence of a Bachelor's degree in American Studies or another anglophone field or an equivalent degree obtained from a university in Germany or abroad. Within this, at least 10 credit points must have been clearly obtained in American Studies. If, at the time of application, fewer than 10 credit points have been acquired in the field of American Studies in the previous studies, the candidate’s suitability will be determined in a selection interview. Admission may be granted subject to conditions. Students are required to have very good proficiency in English (level C1 of the European Framework of Reference). This includes in particular the preparation of written coursework and examinations in English.
