Annotation
The Master's degree Iranian degree course offers you a well-founded scientific education in the fields of cultural studies and history over four semesters. It will provide you with knowledge and methods in the field of Persian literature and culture as well as the history of the Iranian world up to the present day. Familiarity with Persian in its classical and modern forms is both an educational goal and the basis of academic work. The geographical area covers modern Iran as well as Afghanistan, Tajikistan and the traditionally Persophone regions. The Master's degree in Iranian Studies builds on Bachelor's degree in Oriental Studies and Islamic Studies, but is also aimed specifically at graduates of other subjects with a sound knowledge of Persian. It is embedded in the broad range of courses offered by the Centre for Near and Middle Eastern Studies, which results in a high degree of interdisciplinarity. Research focuses You can specialise your knowledge especially in the following areas: - in Persian literature - in the medieval and more recent/new history of the Iranian world - in the cultural anthropological study of contemporary Iranian societies
