The teaching qualification subject French can also be studied in combination with the subjects English, Philosophy, History or Geography as a German-French Degree with bi-national degree (start of studies only at the winter semester, see https://www.studium.uni-mainz.de/internationale-masterstudiengaenge/. The University Mainz offers the Bachelor's degree course starting in the fifth subject-related semester or the Master of Education exclusively for Teaching Qualification (Grammar Schools). Prospective students can familiarise themselves with the subject during a taster day (www.studium.uni-mainz.de/schnuppertage).
Admission requirements
Admission requirement for the course is advanced command of French equivalent to level B1 of the European Framework of Reference. This knowledge is proven either by the certificate of university entrance qualification or by a language test before starting your studies (further information at https://www.romanistik.uni-mainz.de/studium/e-klausuren-und-ingangstests/). If course entrance restrictions are introduced for Education Sciences in the Bachelor of Education programme, the application deadlines for open admission scientific disciplines will also change!
