The subject of Music Education is the teaching and learning of music. Characteristics and essential factors of musical teaching and learning arise from the music itself, from the human relationship to music, and from its sociocultural and historical implications. In particular, the course covers the following areas: - Systematic Musical Education - Historical and Comparable Musical Education - Applied Musical Theory This course is aimed at students who are interested in Music Education. Systematic Musical Education is a main focus and is built around findings in Music Didactics, Music Psychology and Music Therapy. The areas of Applied Musical Theory and Musical Practice provide the specialist, practical foundations necessary for reflecting on Music Education. The study of Youth Cultures, Popular Music and Media is central to the course.
