Annotation

Major subject in combination Bachelor's degree course - only possible in combination with one or two minor subjects Standard period of study: 6 or 8 semesters (depending on combination) Further information on the structure of the combination Bachelor's degree course can be found here: https://www.uni-marburg.de/de/studium/studieninteressierte/studienmoeglichkeiten/kombibachelor In the Marburg major in Political Science, you will acquire basic specialist knowledge of Political Science as well as the ability to conduct independent scientific work, including the corresponding methods. The goal of the Political Science education in Marburg is that students can scientifically describe and analyse the connections between social and political life and gain critical insights from them. The main subject provides basic scientific training in Political Science in its full scope (Political Theory, Political System of the Federal Republic of Germany, Comparative Political Science, International Relations, Empirical Methods of Political Science). This breadth is supplemented by Marburg specifics such as "Critique of Gender Relations" and "Political Economy". In addition, there are cross-sectional topics such as democracy research, structural conflicts in modern societies, international political economy and global and regional politics. The major subject is distinguished from the minor subject in particular by the fact that the training is broader and more intensive. The course integrates practical modules such as occupational field orientation and an internship. An integral part of the degree course is the MarSkills programme, in which you acquire attractive and future-oriented key skills (see https://www.uni-marburg.de/de/fb09/igs/arbeitsgruppen/sprechwissenschaft/marskills/was-ist-marskills).
