Annotation
The course provides students with sound specialist knowledge in the field of statistical methodology and modelling as well as their application to interdisciplinary issues. In addition, students learn to analyse data with computer support. For this purpose, they acquire basic knowledge in the field of mathematics with in-depth knowledge of probability theory and statistics and gain experience in programming. Students supplement this knowledge with specialisation subjects such as economics and computer science or courses in mathematical subfields that go beyond statistics. In conjunction with the choice of specialised statistical subjects, the students can set an individual focus in their studies. In the first year of study, the focus is initially on an application- and data-orientated approach to statistics, before basic courses in probability theory and mathematical statistics lay the foundation for further in-depth courses in this area from the third semester onwards. The acquired knowledge and skills enable graduates to solve statistical problems independently and competently. They are able to apply the methods learned in an interdisciplinary context and to interpret and present the results obtained correctly and comprehensibly.
