Annotation
European literature as well as film, Theatre and other Media are part of the course “European Studies: Comparative Literature“. The image of Europe is largely cultural and has been reflected in literature and the arts since ancient times. By dealing with these cultural artefacts, students acquire a deeper understanding of European social and cultural developments and also acquire a wide range of literary and media skills. The focus of the course is on the different forms of cultural exchange within Europe. However, it is supplemented by the interrelations between European and non-European literatures and media. At the same time, the interdisciplinary core area of the course deals with overarching aspects from History, Politics, Law, Economics, Languages and Geography. This overview knowledge enables a classification of the specialist knowledge into European contexts and a critical reflection. In addition, there is a compulsory study abroad, a Europe-related internship and the acquisition of knowledge of modern European languages.
