Professional areas include e.g. youth work, school social work. debt counselling, social services in public health, social psychiatry, neighbourhood work, services for persons with disabilities, migration-related services and many more. Students gain broad academic knowledge for understanding psychosocial problem situations and for use of life-world-oriented work methods. Findings from various related areas (e.g. Education Theory, Psychology, Economics, Law, and Sociology) are made use of from a perspective of science and practice of social work. Students learn how to approach persons professionally, to combine psychosocial and social structure perspectives, to understand, to use and to organise the political, legal and economic framework of social work, to handle foreignness, as well as gaining ethic and cultural competencies.
