Münster is one of the gems of North Rhine-Westphalia: rich in culture and history, the charming city centre offers a homey feeling. But Münster is also a cycling wonderland and buzzing student city. In fact, about one in five of the nearly 300,000 inhabitants are enrolled. Correspondingly, much is offered – from excellent teaching to numerous shopping and nightlife options.

Münster is a cosmopolitan cycling-friendly city with a lively flair. People are very sociable and like to spend their time together outdoors in the fresh air. And their bicycle is always with them. The city has everything it takes to be a real cycling paradise: optimally developed cycle paths, rental bikes, bike parking areas, washing facilities and workshop services and lots of greenery. You can get around the city without a care in the world. It's not for nothing that the bicycle is the most used means of transport here. There are over 400,000 bicycles in Münster for the 320,000 inhabitants! Another benefit: the entire Münsterland is quite flat, and you won't easily get out of breath while cycling.

The people of Münster are not only environmentally conscious and leave their cars at home, but they also bear a responsibility to the community. Münster has been a Fairtrade City since 2011. This means that various shops, schools, clubs and eateries are committed to fair trade and integrate it into their everyday business. You can buy fair-trade food or clothes in many shops here. Sustainable trade is common in Münster, and additional efforts are happily supported.
